Valencia ponder swoop for Real Madrid's Sergio Canales

The youngster is continually linked with a move away from Santiago Bernabeu and the Mestalla side remain a possible destination.

Sergio Canales could be edging closer toward a Real Madrid exit as Valencia are the latest club considering a transfer window swoop for the player, AS reports.

Although the capture of a centre-back is currently Valencia's top priority, they are also closely monitoring the situation of Canales at Santiago Bernabeu, and are pondering an offer for the attacking midfielder.

The 20-year-old joined Madrid from Racing Santander in the summer of 2010, but has been unable to make an impact at the capital club, and the player is reportedly keen to move on in order to secure regular first-team action.

Madrid appear ready to cash in on the starlet, but prefer to sell him to a foreign club rather than to a domestic rival, despite Canales allegedly setting his sights on remaining in Spain.

Aside from Valencia, Canales has recently been linked with a host of clubs including Lille, Roma, Aston Villa, Everton and Villarreal.

Canales was left out of Real Madrid's squad for their pre-season tour of the USA as he is expected to feature at the Fifa under-20 World Cup in Colombia from July 30 until August 20.
